Arlene (Evers) Karschnik was born on April 28, 1937 to Bert and Aleide (Junker) Evers at their home in Brown County near Sanborn, MN.
On October 26, 2024, at the age of 87 with family by her side, God granted Arlene's wish to join her husband once again.
Arlene was baptized on December 12, 1937, at Christ Lutheran country church in Stately Township. Arlene's faith was important to her and she was confirmed in that faith on April 6, 1952, at Salem Lutheran Church in Comfrey, MN. Arlene graduated with the Comfrey Class of 1955.
While walking with a friend in Comfrey, Arlene met a young man named Earl Karschnik from Mountain Lake. Sparks flew, and on July 17, 1955, the two were married. They began their life together on a farm south of Mountain Lake, which would become their lifelong home.
Arlene worked alongside Earl on their farm. They were blessed with five children Julie, Kevin, Vicki, Cindi and Kent. Earl died March 22, 2022, and in July of that year Arlene became a resident of the Good Samaritan nursing home in Mountain Lake.
She will be remembered as a hard worker, an outstanding cook, and baker. The grand kids always knew there would be good treats at Grandma's house! Arlene was proud of her children and enjoyed her 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren! When the family would get together, Earl would say to Arlene....”Look at all we did, Ma! This is all because of us!” and Arlene would smile! The Karschnik family now totals 52!
Arlene will be remembered by her children, Julie (Dennis) Brugman, Kevin (Misty) and Kent (Kim) Karschnik all of Mountain Lake, Vicki (Dale) Duerksen of Plymouth, MN, and Cindi (Curt) Wiens of Olathe, KS; 12 grandchildren, Crystal (Jesse) Fast, Jordan (Sonia) Brugman, Kody (Lindsey) Karschnik, Jared (Natalie) Karschnik, Justin (Kate) Duerksen, Jesse (Anna) Duerksen, Paige (Josh) Capocasa, Kate (Jason) Lindelof, Brady Wiens, Hannah Wiens, Adam and Alex Karschnik; 22 great grandchildren, Mason, Maxton, Micah & Mereck Fast, Logan, Landon & Layton Brugman, Deliah, Camilla, Estelle & Camden Karschnik, Hadley, Knoxx & Kohen Karschnik, Jack & Lucas Duerksen, Emma & Everly Duerksen, Carson Capocasa, Gavin, Mazie & Jacey Lindelof; sister, Lucille Bennett; brother, Larry Evers; sisters-in-law, Helen Evers, Edna Kliewer, and Elaine (David) O'Neil; and many nieces and nephews.
